Does the moon bring the bite? Test it on your own trips.
Moonlog logs a catch in one tap, then runs a plain-language test: do you catch more inside solunar windows than outside? Your data, your answer, with honest error bars.
Free. Works offline once opened. Nothing you enter leaves your device.

Solunar tables are everywhere. Proof is nowhere.
"Fish by the moon" is advice, not data
Apps print bite times. Almost none check them against what you actually caught.
Logging dies on the water
Wet hands, gloves, bad signal. If it takes a minute, you skip it. Here a catch is one big tap.
Your best spots end up on a public map
Moonlog has no map, no feed and no account. Spots stay on your device and export with blurred coordinates if you choose.
Built for the water
One-tap catch log
A big button logs time and species. Add length, weight and bait later.
Moon Test
Catch per hour inside vs outside windows with a 95% interval and a plain verdict. One question, asked in advance.
Private spot vault
Save spots on your device. Import and export GPX, KML and CSV. Blur coordinates when sharing.
Wind rose for hunters
Log sightings with wind and stand. See which wind works best at each stand.
Today's windows
Moon phase and today's major and minor windows for your location, calculated on the device.
Season card
Save an image of your season totals without sharing your spots.
Backup and export
Export everything to a file or trips to CSV. No lock-in.

What you get today and what is still planned
The web app is a complete, working product. Native apps are planned for features a browser cannot do reliably. Dates are not promised.

FAQ
Does solunar fishing actually work?
The evidence is thin and mixed. One recent peer-reviewed study of 361 trout trips found no relationship between popular solunar tables and catch rates. Moonlog does not ask you to believe either side: it compares your catch per hour inside and outside solunar windows on your own trips, with a confidence interval.
How many trips do I need before the Moon Test says something?
Around 30 finished trips is a reasonable first read. With fewer than 10 the app says it is too early; between 10 and 30 it shows the interval and warns that it is wide.
Is my spot data private?
Yes. Spots and trips are stored only on your device. There is no account, no public map and no feed. When you export spots you can blur the coordinates to about 1 km.
Can I import spots from another app?
Yes. Import GPX, KML or CSV files and export the same formats. Duplicates are skipped and invalid coordinates are rejected with a count.
Is there a hunting mode?
Yes. Log hunts and sightings with the wind direction and stand, and see sightings per hour by wind direction on a wind rose. Moonlog is a log, not a legal reference. Follow local regulations.
Is it free?
The web app is free, without ads or an account. A native app is planned; its price is not decided.
How are solunar windows calculated?
From the moon's position computed on your device (SunCalc). Major windows are 1 hour either side of the moon crossing overhead or underfoot. Minor windows are 30 minutes either side of moonrise and moonset. Tests against an independent ephemeris agree to within a few minutes.

Native iOS and Android apps are planned. Leave your email and you will get one message when they are ready. Nothing else.
